With love

Happy Valentine's Day to you all. As promised a while ago it's time for a little bit of a giveaway! We're celebrating breaking the 100 followers barrier and my inclusion in Intrepid Thread's newsletter (out tomorrow!). We're easily excited around here ;) So what's on offer? There are 3 prizes this time around! We want this giveaway to be a thank you to our regular readers so we've done away with lots of fancy photos and left it to you to brave it!

The first winner will receive this rather lovely dresden plate that Yvonne has been hand-sewing up a storm (in between resting) It's made with the delicious A Walk In The Woods by Aneela Hoey and there's lots of stitchery goodness going on in the centre too :) It's not quite finished so the winner will get the chance to decide whether it should become a cushion or a wall-hanging!
A second winner will receive a customised item. I'll be happy to make a cushion, wall hanging or simple lap quilt in a colour scheme prescribed by the winner. This one requires a little trust from entrants as they won't know in advance what they'll be getting but I hope that you'd still be happy to enter having seen past offerings :)
The third and final winner will receive a mystery fabric pack. Again you'll have to trust us on this one. Regular readers will know our fabricaholic credentials so you can be assured that what comes your way will be worth the punt!

How to enter:
1. Leave a comment below, anything will do as long as you're not too insulting!
2. Followers new or old, just leave another comment saying "I'm a follower".
3. For an extra chance to win tell us an embarrassing tale. We do like a good chuckle at others misfortune ;)
The giveaway will be open until midday (GMT) on Sunday 19th February. Winners will be chosen by Mr Random Number Generator. Please make sure we can contact you or we will have to re-draw and that will be a shame.
Good luck all, catch you soon x

  2. Ok here's a sort of embarrassing story. When I used to work in local gov a colleague was going to a swanky party. (I think it might have been Tim Rice's birthday or something.) Anyway she had a posh outfit and something must have come up about jewellery because I had brought into work this gold tone bangle studded with sparkles I'd been given as a present. I'd not worn it before as I am not really a gold person. I thought it might be safer to wear it to work. Anyway, the bangle was one of those that had a hinge and a spring clasp. I nipped to the loo and just as I turned round to flush the loo the bangle sprang open and fell down the toilet! I then had no alternative but to put my hand into the toilet to retrieve it. I had a fit of the giggles/hysterics and was bloomin thankful I'd only had a wee! Anyway, when I came out of the cubicle to wash my hands there were some very horrified Librarians who must have wondered what on earth was going on in my cubicle!!!

  5. I think my most embarrassing moment was walking around the supermarket only to discover halfway round that yesterday's knickers were hanging out of the leg of my jeans!

  7. Spending way too much of my time with young children, I went into a management meeting at work, and asked before we started if anyone needed the toilet!

  9. Ah...I have to many to choose from. I have one particular skirt I've learned the hard way not to wear to work. It has an elastic waist and it's long. Kids tend to not pay attention and step on it. Almost been pantsed.

  12. here's my embarrassing valentine's story... in 2005, i had just started seeing my husband at the end of january... but we had met online and were getting to know each other, and i didn't want to jump into crazy romance just because of some holiday - so i told him not to do anything for V day. um. he took me at my word, even though i still spent the whole day wanting him to do something, of course. turns out he had to call the flower company, then track down the delivery guy and have him cancel the order. some delivery guy's wife got flowers that night!! but we got married a year and four days later, so it all worked out okay...

  14. hows this for misfortune? the one and only time i had a little accident while pregnant with my son was late in the pregnancy when he was already head down- i was out for a walk at the mall, and i sneezed. no big deal, but that scared my little fetus and he punched me in the bladder, which made me pee my pants. this is not as socially accepted as you may imagine.

  18. I spend most of my life embarassing myself and have only slightly changed the trend by embarassing my kids instead now. But I'll have a go at an old story.

Last time I lived in Canada I had a winter coat that was lined with fake fur. Only the nap on the fur went the wrong way and sort of grabbed at fabric and pulled it up when you were walking. I was going into work one morning and didn't manage to stop the 'uplift' going on in time and by the time I got into my office and took my coat off in private my skirt had literally being pulled all the way up until it was inside out and up to my arm pits! I did not wear skirts with that coat again.

  21. Embarrassing story - I was writing about scraps in a blog post the other day and I only just realised before posting that I had missed the first 's' from scraps! It nearly turned into a very different story! Luckily I noticed my typo before I clicked publish!

  24. When I was 18 flying back home from London, I had to be escorted onto the tarmac by 2 security guards to identify & remove my luggage on a plane which had been delayed taking off because of it!!! Oops - don't ask!! Jxo

  26. Embarrassing? OK! Just after Christmas me and my mam were shopping in town and stopped for dinner in a cafe in a department store. An old neighbour was also there with her son (who was visiting for a few weeks as the lady, who mam visits every week, was just out of hospital - you don't need to know this but it adds flavour to the story!). Anyway, just after they'd left the man on the next table noticed that she'd left her bag on the seat and passed it to us. So we left a note with the assistant and took it with us as we could drop it off on the way home. We continued with our shopping, all the while keeping an eye out for 'O' or her son in case they came back but didn't see them. Then we drove to her house and were surprised that she wasn't in. And, just as I was writing a note for her (saying we'd drop it in later), I realised that neither of us had looked in the handbag to check it did actually belong to our friend. And yes, you've guessed it...it didn't!! Fortunately the lady had a council tax bill in her bag so we had her address (and her purse and two passbooks for the building society - no keys, fortunately!) Cue a dash back to town and a garbled explanation to the stranger's next door neighbour about why we had his neighbour's handbag! Fortunately, as I was halfway through the explanation for the second time (his wife had come out to hear it - let's tell the whole street how daft I am, shall we?!) the lady whose bag we'd inadvertently pinched came home. She was lovely (as was her daughter who'd taken her out for the day!) and wasn't at all cross with us. And she hadn't reported it to the police (phew!) so we didn't have to go there and explain why we'd kidnapped a handbag! Moral of the story? It might feel rude but if you find a handbag you think belongs to a friend check inside first! Oh, and if you move tables in a cafe check you've taken all your bags with you! And don't keep anything with your address on in the same place you keep your keys...I could have been anyone!!! Is that embarrassing enough? (P.S. Great idea for comments, I've been laughing at the other stories! P.P.S. Sorry for the very long comment!)

  30. I'm having a good giggle at the embarrassing stories :)

Mine? As a mature student at Uni I went to see the doctor as I was suffering from stress, exam nerves and feeling very yucky. After a lengthy consultation it transpired that I was 4 months pregnant - oops!
