There are a gazillion stitches and new fangled presser feet to get my head around but it will be a lot of fun experimenting. I suspect I wont actually use her to the full extent of her capacity but I'm likely to have a more consistent seam allowance and much less cussing when quilting ;)
I've already tested that theory on my Larking Around quilt. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I started this quilt in 2011!! It's well on the way to being finished now though :)
I did some very light machine quilting using Jinny and had to take a shot of all that extra space to the right of the needle just to show off ;) I've started hand quilting in perle thread and hope to have a finished quilt to show you by the end of the week.
I've joined yet another bee over on flickr. Each month we will make 4 Japanese x and + blocks from our stash to be sent out in pairs to 2 other bee members.I'm hoping this month's queen bees will be happy with my choices!
I've done this month's block for the Simply Solids Bee too. This one was also from stash. There's lots of Oakshotts in this so I'm hoping the May queen will love it!
I just need to find time to do a block for Sarah in the HipBees and then my bee commitments are behind me for the month. If you could see the length of my sewing to-do list you'd be sweating just as much as me! Lots of deadlines approaching, it would be so lovely not to need as much sleep as I do to function. Speaking of which, it is M.E awareness week again. Our lovely Jess has written another fabulous post to mark the occasion this year, please do pop by and read it if you haven't already. Catch you soon xx
Love your new machine (and love that you named her!) I'm sure she will help you whittle down that sewing to-do list! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe X and Os are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking machine! And I love that quilt. Can't wait to see the big reveal and how nicely perle will stand out on that dark background.
ReplyDeleteGreat that you're having fun with your new toy :)
ReplyDeleteEeeek! New machine!! She's preeeeeety! I like the grey front better than my red one I think.

ReplyDeleteOh it is so good to have a new toy to play with, especially one as good as that!
ReplyDeleteNow I am jealous of both mother and daughter!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased that your new machine is measuring up. I am really taken with your Lark quilt. I just like the design and how the colours pop against the dark background. It is nice to do the bee blocks early in the month. Di x
ReplyDeleteoh what a wonderful machine! you have been busy as a bee and love the Lark quilt and the bee blocks. Great to get an update! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I know exactly how exciting it can be when you get a new machine with ALL THAT QUILTING SPACE! It's fabulous, isn't it? :) I've finished 4 quilts this year, and I know it's because of that extra harp space.
ReplyDeleteHi, So I have just spent the last hmmm 2 hours reading through your blog, I did have a look once before but that clearly was sometime ago. Have loved looking at all the lovely things you two have made and received, love the caricature, it is so you! Of course the humour is not lost on me and I love Yvonne's ramblings hehe. Your sewing room is amazing, where did you put all of that before? I think you should open your doors as a retreat, for people like me! I wish I could sew like you, Mum says I should have a go, we have been knitting squares to make into blankets for babies in Uganda, Mum leaves the sewing to me as she says I am good at it. She has also done some knitting for 'Lisa's Star's' which is sad but a lovely thing to do. Well I best go, thank you for the inspiration....those fabrics all look so lovely...hmmm.X
